Schmick to host telephone town hall with constituents April 2

Rep. Joe Schmick, R-Colfax, invites constituents to join him for a telephone town hall Thursday, April 2, from 7 to 8 p.m.  The “teleforum” allows callers to listen in and ask questions of their representative from the comfort of their own home.  Citizens who wish to call in to the live conversation should dial 1-877-229-8493 and then enter pin number 14685.

“This is a convenient way for citizens to find out what is happening in Olympia and to ask me questions,” Schmick said. “It gives folks from my Eastern Washington district a chance to talk with me and share their concerns without having to drive over the mountains to do so.”

The discussion topics will be set by callers who can ask Schmick about anything from the state budget to agriculture to education.  Members of the media are also encouraged to call and listen to the community conversation.

“My goal is to listen to my constituents and hear what they have to say about a variety of issues,” Schmick said. “It's important for people to have more opportunities to connect with their government, and this format encourages that.”

After the hour-long call, listeners will have a chance to record a voicemail with further questions or comments for the 9th District legislator.  Schmick can also be contacted through his legislative Web site at https://houserepublicans.wa.gov/Schmick/ or by phone at (360) 786-7844 or by e-mail at schmick.joe@leg.wa.gov.
