Dear Friends and Neighbors,

We're hearing that the Majority Coalition in the state Senate may be ready to introduce their budget sometime this week or possibly next week.  Things will start to get interesting after that.  I expect the House Democrats to release their budget shortly after the Majority Coalition and then the real work begins.

Because the budget that comes out of the Senate will be a more bipartisan budget than what the House Democrats produce, I expect the final version to more closely resemble the Senate version.  But that's just speculation at this time.  There will be calls for more revenue (tax increases) and certain programs will either be held hostage in negotiations or eliminated altogether.  I'll keep you informed as best I can.

Until then, here once again is “The Week Ahead.”  Please let me know if you would like to testify on legislation or visit Olympia.
