Background

Governor Jay Inslee joined local 9th District legislators, Reps. Joe Schmick, Susan Fagan and Sen. Mark Schoesler, as well as students from Washtucna and the surrounding community yesterday at a bill-signing ceremony naming the Palouse Falls the official Washington state waterfall.

Quote from Rep. Schmick

“We couldn't have asked for better weather or a more beautiful day,” said Schmick, R-Colfax and prime sponsor of House Bill 2119.  “Today was all about the kids.  It was their effort, perseverance and hard work that made this happen.  And now we have the official state waterfall here in Eastern Washington.  The students learned about the legislative process first hand and our region will hopefully see the economic benefits from increased tourism as visitors continue to view this majestic state treasure.”
