Rep. Joe Schmick calls forcing in-home caregivers to pay union dues “outrageous”

Rep. Joe Schmick, R-Colfax, tells KONA why Republicans refused, in protest, to vote on Senate Bill 6199, which forces union dues to be taken from the compensation given to in-home care providers and given to the Service Employees International Unoin. Schmick also explains his vote in support of the public records bill vetoed last week by Gov. Jay Inslee, reviews wins and losses from the session, weighs in on the so-called “Reproductive Parity Act” forcing state insurers who provide maternity care to cover abortions and talks about the political climate in Washington state.
