Video: Rep. Schmick says it’s time to review state regulations on health services certificate of need requirements
Rep. Joe Schmick has introduced House Bill 2128 to create a task force to investigate modernizing the state’s certificate of need requirements. Under state regulations, certain healthcare providers and facilities must get state approval before building certain types of facilities or offering new or expanded services.
During a public hearing on Jan. 10, Schmick told the House Health Care and Wellness Committee it’s time to review the antiquated law that may be a barrier to needed health services in Washington’s rural communities.
