Capitol Report with Rep. Schmick: Protecting female sports and wood stove concerns

February 14, 2025

Rep. Joe Schmick, R-Colfax, discusses House Bill 1699, which would allow school boards to prohibit biological males from participating in female sports. The bill aims to protect opportunities for female athletes while allowing local districts to determine their own policies. Schmick also highlights concerns over Senate Bill 5174, which bans certain new wood stoves that do not meet updated regulatory requirements, arguing this measure limits options for those who rely on wood stoves for heating.
